Shared Experiences: What moms don't talk about

Comparison, judgement, societal pressures, balancing competing responsibilities...what's it really like on the inside for a mom? For this Shared Experiences episode, we spoke to Sylvia, a working mom and a creative writer.

Sylvia speaks to the concept of "Wire Mother" and the fear that came up for her when she noticed that her husband seemed to be getting more attention from her boys as they went from toddlerhood to boyhood. She also shared her personal take on specific stressors moms face and how society's expectations impact mental health.

Hear Sylvia's story here and remember, you are never alone:

You can also read Sylvia's piece "Wire Mother" here to learn more about the concept.

Brought to you by real people with real stories, our Shared Experiences series shines light on the mental health struggles we all commonly face. 1 in 5 people experience a mental illness in a given year and by the time someone reaches 40, the prevalence is 1 in 2 and many don't reach out for help. At MindBeacon, we strive to change that.
